Social/Emotional Learning Strategies for Families

Ensuring that children are receiving appropriate SEL support in both school and home environments is important for better success in both environments.

1. Structured Routines

Providing predictability will help children what to expect next allowing them to know what is accepted of them during different times of the day.

2. Problem- Solving

Teaching problem solving skills as a family is affective for children to learn how to solve problems in the future in and outside of school.

3. Teach Kindness

Teaching kindness is important when learning how to show empathy and problem solving among other peers and family members. Modeling how to kindly speak to one another will help handle conflict correctly even in tough situations.
